Non-official opening Restaurant Château de Barbet
 |
On Friday 24 March 2006 the totally renovated "Château de Barbet
Restaurant" was back in business.
The official opening was in the Easter weekend.
Here
we show you a few pictures of the renovated restaurant. We really enjoyed the
delicious food.
You see the new chief Paul and his wife at work, and the first guest enjoying
their meal.

An improvement of our Parc. We strongly recommend it, both for the food and
for the pleasant environment.

Glass container
After
years of half measures our Parc now has its own real glass container, for
recycling glass bottles and jars.
In its proper place: next to the rubbish collection place.
This makes it easier for us to behave well for the environment. We already
have, in each villa, a brown container for separating rubbish that can be
recycled: paper, plastic bottles, tins, milk cartons, etc. They can be emptied
in separate large containers (yellow lid) in the rubbish collection space. It
is very important that we all co-operate in this: the sanctions for not
separating the rubbish are very heavy. not just money penalties, but eventually
also a refusal to collect the rubbish at all. That would be big trouble!

|
The Parc is looking better than ever, as you can see in these pictures. They
were made in october 2005.
|
|
December 2005 proved that it can be, as an exception, be very cold in
Lombez. Temperatures dropped gradually, in the endd it we had a minimum
temperature of minus 10 degrees Celsius. Very unusual! It does give us a chance
to take very nice pictures, thick fog sometimes, bright sunshine at other days.
Still, on the sunny days we were sitting outside in shorts and T-shirts (on a
wind-free part of our terrace). And in our villa the heating system makes sure
we don't get too cold.
Now that the Parc exists for several years the birds have got used to being
fed by those strange Dutch people. During my first year in Lombez they had no
idea that people would do that, but now they know immediately in which garden to
find the latest supply of bird seed, bread and apple skins. It is not really necessary to feed them: nature and the farms in the
neighborhood have ample
food for the birds, but it is a delight to get all kinds of bids in your own
garden and to observe them for nearby.
The only thing we didn't offer the birds was a string of peanuts: we know
that would attract the squirrels, which can become very troublesome when getting
used to free food supplies.

Road signs
Summer 2005 Midreth has placed the road signs in the Parc.
It looks good and clear.
|
 |
|
 |
The road from Lombez to Boulogne has been improved in September 2005 with a
turn-off facility for the Parc. This way the situation is a lot more safe,
because cars, coming from Boulogne, waiting to turn into the Parc can queue in
a separate part of the road. The pictures show the work-in-progress.

The entrance of the Parc
|
 |
The
Parc entrance has been improved end of 2004 by Midreth.
The pictures show the improved look.
|
 |
The main gate
No longer is the main entry
adorned with some rusty chicken wire: we have a real gate! |
 |
And if you don't know how to call
the Parc, using "vacation Parc" or "Château de Barbet", this sign
shows our official name, from now on it is "Parc Residential Château de
Barbet" |
 |
| On the right side of the gate you
see another sign, for restaurant 'le Petrarque. Francesco Petrarqua was an Italian
poet. He live from 1304 till 1374 an has spend some time in Lombez in 1330 or so. |
 |
The drive way
On both sides of the driveway we now have
"antique" lamp posts. |

The fitness room can be freely used by all occupants of the estate. The entrance is at
the left side of the Château. |
